Remember, absence from the National Curriculum does not imply irrelevance! Information and digital literacy are fundamental to equal participation in a democratic society. Research has shown that information literate people have a better chance at success across a range of life areas.

The makerspace culture is fundamentally geared towards facilitating invention/innovation. Constructionism (not to be confused with constructivism) is at its heart. Many of the skills students are able to acquire or strengthen through a makerspace, are the skills we know are difficult to address within a structured classroom environment.
SOCIAL SKILLS
Some students struggle with communication or social skills. Makerspaces provide a safe space where friendships can blossom, and interpersonal skills can be strengthened.
